Click on the column headers to sort alphabetically by ‘Name’ or ‘Street’ or chronologically by ‘Year’. Use the ‘Search’ facility to narrow the list down further. If the pub’s name is underscored click on the link for more details. The date in the ‘Year’ column is the earliest reference I have found to the pub in question. Some are likely to date back even further. The location map at the bottom of the page may also be of interest. Although care has been taken, this database may include errors, omissions and/or duplications. If you can help with the accuracy of this project, please contact me.
This database is a work in progress. It has been compiled from trade directories, books, maps, census returns, conversations with elderly relatives/acquaintances and more. In order to keep the list manageable, pubs opened in the last few decades have typically not been included, even if they have subsequently closed.
